Oldershaw, Arline M., 89, of Richmond, VA, formerly of Ashland, VA, and Bear Creek, PA, passed away on March 28, 2015. Arline was born on August 14, 1925 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Stanley H. and Helen G. Ritts and her husband, Robert E. Oldershaw of Bear Creek, PA. She is survived by her children, Bobbie Sullivan of Denver, CO, Janice O'Neil of Seattle, WA, Karl Oldershaw of Ashland, VA, and Robert Oldershaw, of Bear Creek, PA; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Oldershaw, Arline M., 89, of Richmond, VA, formerly of Ashland, VA, and Bear Creek, PA, passed away on March 28, 2015. Arline was born on August 14, 1925 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Stanley H. and Helen G. Ritts and her husband, Robert E. Oldershaw of Bear Creek, PA. She is survived by her children, Bobbie Sullivan of Denver, CO, Janice O'Neil of Seattle, WA, Karl Oldershaw of Ashland, VA, and Robert Oldershaw, of Bear Creek, PA; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Until her retirement, she was employed by Penn's Woods Girl Scout Council, Wilkes-Barre, PA where she was Registrar and Master Trainer. She also was elected as an Auditor, Luzerne County and Bear Creek Twp., PA, and served two terms. Mrs. Oldershaw was very active in community volunteer work both in Pennsylvania, and in Virginia, where she relocated after her retirement. Her affiliations reflect a particular interest in senior citizen well-being. Most notably, she was a Pennsylvania Delegate to the 1995 White House Conference on Aging. She served on Pennsylvania Dept. of Aging's Advisory Panel; chaired the Advisory Council of the Luzerne-Wyoming Counties (PA) Bureau for the Aging; and was on the Board of the Federation of Senior Citizens Clubs and Organization of PA for six years. In Virginia, she was involved with the Virginia Assn. of Area Agencies for Aging. She was very active in the AARP, serving as Associate State Coordinator for Community Operations for the Pennsylvania AARP; a member of the Executive Board of AARP Luzerne County (PA) chapter; and as a Community Specialist and Trainer for AARP in Virginia. Mrs. Oldershaw was an active member of the Mended Hearts cardiac support group, Central Virginia Chapter 28, where she was a past Vice President and Past Secretary. A Lifetime Member of Girls Scouts, USA, Mrs. Oldershaw was a volunteer with that organization for 35 years. Family and friends in Virginia are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 6PM at the First English Lutheran Church, 1603 Monument Avenue, Richmond, Virginia 23220. Family and friends in Pennsylvania may call at McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA, 18701, on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 5 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Church, 5700 Bear Creek Boulevard, Bear Creek Village, PA, 18702 on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township, PA.
